The Importance of Form (Appearance) and Substance (Ability/Competence)

In earlier periods of our mercenary society, appearances already play a significant part. With ethereal exquisiteness, the hierarchy gladly offers perks and power. However, humans now turn to a more sophisticated approach in the definition of “beauty”.

Quoting my mother, “Nowadays even graduates don’t get a job easily”. This bluntly-put point tells us that qualifications are no longer the ticket to success, but a requirement, a basis.

So what distinguishes someone from the rest of the ravenous eager interviewees? I believe that it’s a combination of form and substance. Going in depth, one doesn’t have to be a looker, but definitely groomed and pleasant on the eyes; with the right amount of IQ proven with the resume, he/she has to go beyond with the right attitude, intellect, and a whole lot more of abstract indefinable subjective qualities.

My last words are “It is beauty that captures the attention but personality which captures the heart.” The form can only take one as far as the first impressions; it’s the real substance in us that eventually keeps what we want.

i am pretty proud. cause my summary skills improved. i had to cut more than a paragraph to fit it into 1 minute and 8 seconds.

anyways, my favourite flower is the Ruffled Tulip now. (not that anybody cares.) credits to the book "New Moon".

i had to stop at page 453 to do my work. i was falling so in love with Jacob Black, but Edward is coming into the picture again with much impact to the heart indeed!

it's really mesmerizing and i think my brother's right about your soul gettting captured by the words. i just keep wanting more more more. (no relevance to sexual ding dongs please.)

this is my wallpaper now!

"Love looks not with the eyes, but with the mind; and therefore is winged Cupid painted blind”
– Helena, Midsummer’s Night Dream.

"Jacob's slow, deep breathing was the only sound in the room - like a lullaby hummed to a child, like the whispers of a rocking chair, like the ticking of an old clock when you had nowhere you needed to go. It was the sound of comfort."
- Bella, New Moon.
